Success with new memberships

Hello Everyone,

It has been a busy and monumental week at Westlake.

The Members Open Meeting on the 24th was a lively affair, but altogether well-received and held in good spirits. Thanks to everyone who attended and participated in the meeting.

The SGM held on the 26th was equally well-attended and produced a lively debate with both interesting and useful points of view. The three new memberships were passed by a large majority of 180 votes for and 18 against. Sincerest thanks to all members for making the effort to attend the two meetings and for all the good feedback, which can now be used to refine our product even further. Also, a special word of thanks to the Committee who have worked tirelessly on this initiative for a year. They have given up many evenings and additional time and effort to come up with all the detailed information presented to you.

Well, from today any new member can join Westlake in these three new categories and pay Pro Rata until the end of August. Existing members are permitted to switch in the new financial year (1 September) should they wish. Feel free to contact the office and chat to Emelia for further information. We urge you all to please do your part in promoting this initiative to potential new members out there! Let’s all grow our wonderful club together!

Keep your calendars open

Club Knockout entries close on Monday. The sheets are still at the reception desk for your convenience. So, please make sure you put your name down this week. Only Full, Graduate, Life & Student members are eligible to take part. The cost to enter is only R70pp.

Westlake Foursomes is scheduled for the 15th September 2019. Please note that entries open on Monday. This event is not to be missed, So, be sure to e-mail Emelia here to book a spot.

In the ladies’ league, things are going well. Currently, Bronze 1 are lying in 2nd place behind Durbanville, who were last year’s winners.  Bronze 2 tied top place with Somerset West.  Bronze 3 are top of their Section, 2 points ahead of Strand. Silver 1 and Silver 2 are both top of their Section, with both teams leading by three points. Well done ladies!

Congratulations Sonya!

The winner of the Zoutendyk Trophy for the Individual Bogey Competition last Tuesday was Sonya Sleep. Well done Sonya! We raise our glass to your victory.

Don’t leave your mark on the course

I have had several members mention divots and pitch marks to me this week. As always, please remember to repair yours and if you happen to see the odd one where you are, please fix that too. If we all do this, the course will remain stunning.

Save the date!

A reminder about The Open Quiz Night, taking place on Wednesday 17th July after prizegiving at 18h30. Food will be on sale and a player auction will also be held. It was brilliant fun for the U.S. Open, so come and join us for a real “Westlake” evening! Please book at the office and if possible, pay the R30 per person in advance. It is just far easier than collecting cash on the night. Thanks for your assistance in this regard.

Don’t forget Sunday Lunch on the 7th July. Bookings are going well, but there are still a few spots open.

Call Westlake Kitchen directly to book.

Have a super weekend and see you all at the club.

Dave & the fantastic Westlake team
