The Mollie Stephens Trophy was first presented by Mrs A F Stephen in 1950 and was competed for by the winners of four rounds of bogey events played during the year but in 2003 it was changed to a one day competition.

Our second trophy of the year was the Grace Krummeck Individual Stableford competition played again in windy conditions. Eleanor Wilson took the honours with39 points followed closely by Alison Gilbert with 38 points. Jackie Hills was third on 36 points, Christine Rush counted out on 36 points and Anne Hayes 35 points.
The Grace Krummeck trophy was presented to the club in 2002 by Grace who was Lady Captain in 1981/82. She became Lady President in 1990. Grace was one of Westlake’s characters who was a stickler for time keeping and she would also play in all weather. She is described as ‘Grace by name and Grace by nature’.
Thanks everyone ..... for your wonderful response and for your donations of sweets and chocolates which enabled us to prepare goodies bags for all our catering and domestic staff over the Christmas period We were also able to purchase 33 hampers for all our Westlake Caddies.

if you have not experienced the adrenalin rush of playing league, perhaps your handicap is too high or you feel that you have not had enough match practice - then read on.
Please let us know if you would like to be involved in some match practice sessions. We have some experienced league players who would be prepared to spend time on the course with you and explain rules and
regulations relating to the intriguing world of matchplay. We can arrange these sessions on a non-Medal, non-trophy or non-sponsor day or perhaps a league day.
Also .....
Amy French our Assistant Pro is prepared to run some coaching sessions for our league teams. Please let us know if you would like to be part of these clinics.
Our monthly profile is Jill Domoney - Jill is very active in the WGWP Seniors and has a challenging year ahead. Meet Jill below ..............
My “relationship” with the small white dimpled ball really began after I retired 8 years ago. I was accepted as a member of Westlake Golf Club in February 2004. My initiation was with the Early Birdies on Thursday mornings and a couple of years later, I joined the Tuesday afternoon Iield.
I was accepted as a member of Western Province Senior Women Golfers Society in February 2007, and was elected on to the Committee in February 2008, at which time Cheryl Dellbridge was the President. For the last two years I’ve have been Secretary for the Society, and have committed to a further two year term. 2012 will see the Senior Women Golfers National Championships being held in Cape Town in June, after a period of 12 years. Being part of the organising committee will be challenging but fun. Seniors golf continues to Ilourish.
The people I have met, and friendships made over the few years of endeavouring to improve my proIiciency of the game of golf, have been wonderful. It has considerably eased the frustrations I continue to have with the small white dimpled ball.
It is said that “Competitive golf is played mainly on a 20 centimeter course, the space between one’s ears!” If only I could master this miniature course!
Jill Domoney
Keep up the good work Jill and have a rewarding year ahead. JOAN

In the meantime: FANTASTIC AND HAPPY GOLFING!
